Dreams and Dream Symbols

"All we see and seem,

is but a dream within a dream"

~ edgar allen poe

i have decided to share some of my dreams on the site for your enjoyment! dreams are my friends, some of them come and go; some stay for decades. i find that whenever there is something in my life that i am not consciously acknowledging, my dreams will let me know with dramatic symbols. i dream in color all the time and some of my dreams stay in my thoughts throughout the day. when i have a dream that i find curious, i will try to bring it more clarity by focussing my attention on it for a period of time (some people call this day dreaming!) i have always been a day dreamer as it allows me to process my dreams, ponder and find connections; find meaning and pattern in my dreams. usually if i go through this process, i find my creative urge kicks me and i will, more often than not; spit out a visual image or a peice of prose or poetry that embodies the essence of the dream and what i feel about it. to me this describes the creative process. not difficult; natural, easy flowing using the most pleasing thought processes and wallowing in dramatically symbolic images and concepts; day dream your way to creation. Focussing all your attentive energy to carry this process through is empowering and liberating. contemplating the result of your creative efforts is in turn, a full source of creative realisation and inspiration.

club where?

i have had a sort of recurring dream for about six years. i go to the same place and have different experiences. it is a wonderful holiday destination and when i have these dreams i wake up feeling like i have been away for an ultra relaxing trip! Club Where? is a hotel decorated in dark red velvet, gold and dark wood like blackwood. it look like a country hotel that has been renovated, as the accommodation is brand new; the reception area, bar, restaurant and entire ground floor is a lovely grand style of the past. it's grounds include an enclosed pool area with a spa at one end, surrounded by tropical plants and this area is always lit beautifully at night. whenever i go to this hotel i go to reception first which is straight through the front door and through a small entrance way. my room is on the second floor and i get there by turning left at recepton and going straight up to my room. the elevator doors open up to my room and my view is of the aquatic centre across the road and the beach in the distance, on a wide bay wth fairly deep and choppy surf. while i have stayed at this hotel i have explored the area, been to the aquatic centre which has three extremely large swimming pools, waterslides and waterfalls; spent time in the hotel and the front bar and restaurant. last time i dreamed i went there, i walked along the coast to the left and found a little restaurant or cantina on a rocky outcrop. live music and a wonderful atmosphere abounds here and i felt very welcome. if anyone who reads this recognises this place, i would love to know!

hurtling through space

another dream that i have had multiple times throughout my life i am hurtling through space, what looks to me like the milky way, and things are hurtling in the same; and the opposite direction. things that have travelled past me in hese dreams include boats, buildings, people, animals and planets. while i am travelling, my limbs and body parts can change rapidly and involuntary. my hands will grow or my whole body will swell to ten times it's previous size. it used to scare me when i was a child, but this type of dream is fun for me now because i try to enjoy the feeling of growing larger and larger.

strong snake

i was walking in dry grass and came across an empty blue trailer. stepping around the trailer, i saw a coiled blue and grey colored snake on the ground behind the trailer. as i stepped towards it, i raised it's head; which was slightly large and seemed disproportionate. i noticed how strong the snake's head was and thought 'what a strong snake'. this dream corresponded strongly with a situation in my life at the time.

going to see the yaga

i often dream of going to see my yaga who lives across marshland so i have to row a boat, usually at night; over to the underworld. sometimes my guardian animals go with me and sometimes i go alone. when you finish rowing over the marsh waters, yaga's doorway is situated down a thirty foot tunnel lubricated with mud. you cannot end up at the door to yaga's hut clean. the yaga alays lets me into a tiny cooking kitchen with a woodstove. invariably there are always cast iron pots on the stove and something also in the oven. usually she gives me some soup or wine. yaga's fingers are knarled and her fingernails are long. she rarely talks but gestures to me while she shows me things, 'see', 'this one', 'you do it'. i have been given objects and symbols for use in my life; yaga handed me a golden key once and called me another name. once she painted the back of my hands with rich designs and said 'you do it'.
