Spirituality in today's world

My thoughts on spirituality in today's world are possibly similar to the thoughts of many other women living on the planet. I am 'fed up' with what we fill our lives with, the greed and polution of corporations worldwide; the destruction of culture in many civilisations; the war and destruction that plagues us; the killing of innocents for political or financial gain; the loss of our spiritual values.

I am 'sick' of us being exploited in meaningless work for pitiful wages, hooked into the roles that society has deemed are ours; given little opportunity to enjoy our own lives or help others. Let's wake up now and decide to stand up, take our own roles in our families and communities; refuse to bow to any authority but the Supreme; make our own oportunities; and move away from passive living aimed at generating wealth and smooth daily operation for corporations and governments who are not in tune with their people.

My mission is to join with others to rid the earth of these destructive and violent influences and restore beauty and peace to humanity and the mother earth. I applaud the efforts of those who take a stand against corruption and greed, and those who spread the word of freedom and peace! Thank you for this.

I accept the world's religions as part of the One. Predjudice regarding one's practice of spiritual beliefs is an outdated mode of thinking. All can exist side by side, and all can blend seamlessly into one religion of tolerance. We are all individual and part of the whole of humanity simultaneously. Why can we not enjoy our own beliefs?

My take on spirituality is that a spiritual life includes an obligation these days to think about how we use our energy, who we give our money to; and how we are treating those around us and the earth in our own little patch of home. Humanity is united in the wish to support each other with love and offer assistance to others that need our help.

I like to think that I can offer my words and images as a way of connecting with others and supporting. Art and creativity has much to teach us about our own inner life and the issues of humanity in this time of change.

Artists have a responsibility to all people to comment on the life of the planet like never before. Art can create awareness and move people to action.

My own spiritual practise involves reading, writing poetry and prose, dreaming, prayer, painting; meditation; the I Ching and the Tarot.

I will always be exploring the essence of spirit in my life and making comment. I hope some of my words may reach you at the right time or inspire you to create your own work of art!

All for One and One for All....................

I am currently reading "Coming to our senses ~ healing ourselves and the world through mindfullness" by Jon Kabat-zinn. I agree with the author when he says that the world is suffering from a sort of post traumatic stress disorder. I believe that we are only now realising the distress of the past decades, now when it feels so overwhelming; now when we cannot ignore it any longer.

Blessings to those who know this ~ it is a hard pill to swallow. Remember this also ~ when injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty. We are unwittingly on a journey with only one just and reasonable outcome ~ that all of us share equally in it! If we care enough the journey from here on in will be a constantly unfolding demonstration of real unity, full of deep connection and power. We know what we need to heal ourselves and the planet ~ let's do it well!

Om - represents Brahman, the Absolute, omnipotent, omnipresent; and the source of manifest existence; the spirit of God. For Hindus the Om symbol represents both the manifest and the unmanifest aspects of God. The word 'om' in Sanskrit means 'one who protects, sustains'.

Eye of hours - represents the ancient Egyptian 'god of the sky', Horus. In Egyptian myth the eye of horus symbol was an agent of healing and protection. The eye of horus is a powerful symbol of omnipotence and omniscience, a representation of the spirit of God.

Dove - represents God or the holy spirit  in Christianity. The holy spirit descended upon Jesus like a dove when he was baptized in the Jordan River. The dove is also a symbol of peace. After the flood, a dove returned to Noah with an olive branch, revealing the end of God's judgment and the beginning of a new covenant with man.

Double Jesus

A 'repeated' symbol 'doubles' the vibrational effect of the image or word. This phenomenon exists world wide; as is especially demonstrated in advertising where words and images are repeated until they become powerful enough to influence us. I figured that doubling Jesus was an excellent idea, to demonstrate a powerful force of good in this chaotic world. The message is this: double love; double wisdom; double faith and double compassion are what is required in todays world.

Jesus says

Jesus arrives urging us to keep calm in spite of everything that is happening in the world today. It is a reassuring message of hope for humanity.
