Mandala for World Peace
At this chaotic point in the world's history, with unrest in many nations; we need prayer for peace more than ever before.
My 'mandala for world peace' is a symbolic prayer for a planet and people struggling with war, famine, natural disaster;
violence beyond any acceptable barriers.

The Woman is The Garden
This work entitled 'the woman IS the garden' represents the woman as Goddess or Mother the essence of 'Mother Nature'. The image celebrates the gentle and joyful nature of women, natural fertility; and abundant creative energy.

the woman IS the garden 2
This image represents my vision for women on earth in the future. The title of the work reflects my belief that women are productive, abundant and fertile beings; bringing life to planet earth. In this way, women can demonstrate their unquestionable relationship and connection to mother nature. In our own lives, we can mimic the work of mother nature in the garden, and sow seeds, bring ideas to life; create and nurture what is given life.
The symbols in the work describe what I feel are the greatest attributes for women to nurture in ourselves and in our societies today.
- bird ~ the intuition
- eye ~ clear vision and focus
- female symbol ~ relationship with self and others
- moon ~ earth and planetary wisdom
- vessel ~ creative work ~ nourishing self and others
- flame ~ enlightened vision and motivation
- venus ~ connection with beauty ~ love and the arts
~ inspire us to be a source of inspiration to others ~

Art as a process of Transformation
My views on this subject are lessons that art has taught me over many years as a seeker and artist. My spiritual values and my art are wrapped up together, intertwined; and I use one for the purpose of the other and vice versa. In any conversation about art, words are not enough.
To truly 'see' what blessings creative action gives us, we must immerse ourselves in the creative moment fully ~ and then we can be transformed through the process. There is nothing better than finishing a peice of work which has struggled to be born, laden itself with feeling and meaning; become heavy in our hearts and minds and driven us to stay awake for many hours to complete it.
Sitting down to contemplate then is another wonderfully insightful moment. For those who find it difficult to 'read' visual language ~ the 'feeling' is enough. It is enough to feel empty, done; and find satisfaction in the completion of the process. Even this 'feeling' is full of wonder ~ did I really do that! Engaging in this contemplation of our work starts another process ~ that of insight or realisation.
Days later you will look again, then weeks; months later. You will by then 'know' what really has been produced by the art process. You will find words for your work, begin to describe it ~ the work has come to life! Months later, maybe years; you will appreciate it and fully 'know'. Others my know it now too. The transformation has reached your inner being and morphed into knowledge about the image, the idea and the spirit that the idea and image embody.
This is Art!
When we share the image we have created, we are offering that opportunity to transform to others. The way to 'read' visual language is to immerse your heart and mind into the contemplation of the image. Think on it for hours, days; bring the image into your mind; use the image as inspiration for creative action, surround your self with the image. Unlike fast food the results take long lengths of time to eventuate. You are 'digesting' the image.
Continue processing for long enough and you will find the image ~ and the 'spirit' of the image ~ become present in your life with a life of their own. This is why we must be very careful where we place our attention and what images we gaze upon and allow to influence us. It also points out to us a very effective tool for change both within our selves and in our lives, families and communities.
Blessed be the Beautiful Life of Art!

A word about
the Empowerment of Women......
It breaks my heart to be aware of women living in nations that practice oppression and disempowerment of women. The time for change was yesterday. This work is a message of hope for those women that change will come.
